Electric Motor Performance Analysis and Trending Hardware The easy-to-use EMPATH Jr. can analyze motors, generators, alternators, transformers and other electrical equipment. The EMPATH™ 2000 system has established itself as an industry-leading analysis and trending system for electric motors. Now many of the core capabilities of the EMPATH 2000 system are available in a more compact, more affordable motor analysis system know as EMPATH Jr. Employing the same unique Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) technology as the EMPATH 2000 system, EMPATH Jr. can analyze motors, generators, alternators, transformers and other electric equipment. The system provides information on all three phases of current and voltage. EMPATH Jr. software provides spectral analysis using a Fast Fourier Transform. Both spectral and time domain data are analyzed with the same sophisticated algorithms used by the EMPATH 2000 system. These algorithms can indicate: • Rotor bar and stator deterioration and severity level • Rotor-stator eccentricity characteristics • Motor speed and slip • Average running current – an indicator of motor torque • Power factor • Torsional vibration and dynamic loading • Misalignment, mechanical unbalance • Bearing degradation • Current/voltage variations The EMPATH Jr. system includes all necessary software and hardware to analyze motors immediately, including a state-of-the-art handheld power quality analyzer that takes full advantage of the EMPATH Jr. software package. Together, the full EMPATH Jr. system can collect data on up to eight motors and download the data to a PC for complete analysis of motor time and frequency signatures.
